“Always knew you were tribal” – Mic Dundee

Like many Sci Fi movie enthusiast, I too flocked to the theatres to watch James Cameron’s latest epic ‘Avatar’. As soon as the credits rolled I had an itch to do something of the tribal nature. But instead of doing up some hot Na’vi babe (which I may do sometime anyway, haha) I wanted to try and mix ideas from the film and other influences like Soulfire’s Chaos Reign, Witchblade’s Anu, Tinkerbell etc., to make something somewhat original.

In the end I really like the results and I wasn’t quite sure how it would turn out when it was done—usually I have an idea and pretty well know how it will look but this one I just kept adding stuff and playing around with a few techniques and trying to use every color I like, haha!

Now I need to find a way to make 3d lenticular print in Photoshop. I’ve been seeing these 3d-art posters popping in stores and they look really cool. Wouldn’t that make for a kick ass comic book cover!?

Going Tribal by ~RayArtz is absolutely gorgeous! The pose is so dynamic and the action feel to this piece is just awesome!
