Hot Summer Nights by RayArtz Hot Summer Nights by RayArtz
Hot summer nights and the gangs all here.

Nipping on the heels of my really popular Car wash ladies: rayartz.deviantart.com/art/At-…, I knew I had to delve back into tropics and get wet again with a shimmering pool and some bikini clad ladies under the moon light. The most entertaining part of this image was the water (yeah right—no seriously it was!) I knew I wanted a pool to feed into another pool so creating a mini waterfall and creating some sort of current swirling around is a way for me to breathe more life into a shot.

Just a quick tip for those interested: I also found a quick, no fuss way of making caustic reflections (the purty water reflections bouncing off objects) which is the same way I’d normally do veins on big muscle bound arms and that is just to use the dodge tool. Simple, eh?

At any rate I hope you all enjoy!

Reparei em várias ilustrações que os abdomens das personagens estão muito demarcados, em alguns a barriga ganha um aspecto "torcido" ou "escavado", tem que tomar muito cuidado na hora de escurecer os detalhes.

Goggle: I have noticed many illustrations that abdomens of the characters are very marked in some aspect of the belly gets a "twisted" or "dug", have to be very careful when you darken the details.

This looked like it was very fun to draw! XD
I love how you made that shine effect on the water. You actually made it look pretty realistic. :D
You also made the girls look very... sexy. XD
Their skin also looks a bit shiny, but I'm sure anyone elses' skin would look a bit shiny after taking a dip in a pool. xD
You did a very wonderful job on this pic, and keep it up! ^v^

For the first time in your work, I feel more drawn toward the background than your lovely ladies. The swirls in the water are awesome. They seem to steal all my attention. :)

Wonderful work!

Hmmm...interesting ideas...something to maybe note for HYBRID artstyle use. Although, I do have only two critical tones...ze bikini's maybe a little too impractical. That kind of stringy design requires alot of tension to keep that kind of shape on a body, which would cause some skin deformity.

Also look at the girl in the orange piece and string bikini. (Notice anything off? Anatomy wise?) Her body actually breaks flow badly, meaning the body looks like someone snapped her in two. I like the pose but her body doesn't look alive...it looks painfully forced. No person would end up in that kind of shape...its too uncomfortable to hold that position. The bodies positioning seems to ask that her right leg angled more behind her with the lower part of her right inner thigh showing behind her butt. It would make her posture more realistic...or otherwise you may have to rework her torso positioning to reflect her positioning of her thighs in the water.

Otherwise...a good work overall.

Tsk tsk tsk! But that reminds me of Witchblade/Fathom. You and Mike Turner have got the same skills! That's awesome! I love the skin. it's so beautiful color! I would suggest that blonde girl is the most beautiful. :)

I am truly awe struck by your compliment.
I owe a lot to Mike as he influenced me to develop and shape my own style.
But I'm no where near as smooth---much to learn I still have.

Oh right, just there's one in the Witchblade series where it's the same kinda pose. I suppose Fathom would make more sense though seeing as she spends a lot of her time in water :D
Yeah, he was a wonderful artist. I miss the work he did :( Unfortunately, Soulfire hasn't been the same since he died

Mike's unique story telling abilities with pencils really made Soulfire an amazing piece of work.
But the concept and his story still remains, even Fathom vol 4 will be pieced together from his notes and such.
besides I'll always continue to support Aspen Comics--they are after all my holy grail to work for ;)

Well then if you are new I highly recommened checking out tutorials by :iconionen: and :iconartgerm:
I learned a lot from them myself and I pretty well use the same work flow.
Specifically for me I try to focus on muscle tones and build darkest color to the lightest (but not always ya gotta feel it out sometimes)I also blend my brush strokes together with a blender brush under the smudge tool--it gives everything a nice softness to it. Yeah so check those guys out and that should give you a nice starting point
