My bird goes vroom vroom by RayArtz My bird goes vroom vroom by RayArtz
I like Firebirds—I like chicks—I like chicks with Firebirds.

Done deal.

The girl is the standard issue punk-hot-tough chick that I’d love to meet and hang with. Besides that her name is Saundra, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of her. The car is my retro take on a 1979 Trans Am. I used a picture of a 2010 camaro to help me define certain areas and keep me from making it look too ’79-ish because I wanted it to look modern while maintaining that original look. Thankfully I own a ’79 so it wasn’t too hard to go find reference for.

All in all the hardest part was the car itself. I repainted it twice before screaming my head off and finally finding a way that worked for me. The snowflake wheels were difficult but they flowed nicely, all those years of polishing my wheels I guess had its advantages besides making the car look good.

I hope you all can dig it.

Saundra dwells in the Pblastian-Verse and is © by me and may not be altered, copied, or otherwise without permission. Oh and the car too, just draw your own its fun.

Hell yeah! This version looks WAY better than the kit 2010 Camaro turned TA that is out there. Now THIS is a car that GM needs to make now! If they did, it would outsell just about everything out there right now. And of course have to offer the 455 SD package as well if they did.

This, is truly killer work. Love it!

I'm not a fan at all of the new Camaro, and this looks based on it, still, it looks much better than it's chevy brother. Nice picture...

Great work. The girl is great. The car is great. Really, who doesn't like hot women and cool Trans Ams? (rhetorical question, sort of) I love Trans Ams and hot women. I wish GM would at least bring back the Trans Am. I have read in a couple of automotive magazines, that there may be a couple of companies that can make the new Camaro look like a new Trans Am. It gets expensive though. I still would like to get my hands on a 2002 WS6 Ram Air Trans Am. Enough rambling. Again great work.

Woo, it came out great! I'll have to show this to my mom at some point, she loves Firebirds... She owned an '86 Firebird with like, 30K miles on it, it was practically flawless.

The only thing that bugs me is her head looks a bit awkward, I'm not sure what it is... But I love the way her hair came out, very cool! :D Awesome job!

wow - could be one of those posters i always wanted as a teen.

And i certainly hope we see more of her. (more of your other girls too.)

I hope you don't mind if i say the shading of the skin of her right boob seems a bit less perfect than the other stuff.

Thank you!
I never get comments about my skies and I really enjoy doing them
I've got a crap ton of Cloud brushes and I just try and make'em dance all over the place

Skies and hair are my two favorite things to color and I think image really shows that.

Haha your two favorite? no wonder they are so awesome. Maybe you should do a tutorial on those things, as I find those to be some of the harder to do, or at least to make look natural and good, well reflections, they're pretty hard too.

Actually there is already a tutoral for the skies, I take this dude's approach :iconairage:
He's got a few tutorials on developing landscapes in his gallery. I simply took what I learned from that and played with it
plus the hair :iconcalisto-lynn: she's got some very nice information on her page most of which can be found in her jounral.

As for reflections I picked up a how to do car book wayyyyyyy back by Thom Taylor and it gives nice details on how to make light and shadows bounce around. Ultimately you've just gotta go outside and really observe how stuff looks and feels. Hope those help ya bit.

Thanks so very much. I am really liking airages tutorials. You should consider posting some tutorials of how you approach your work, I'm sure there's a lot of interested watchers, waiting for that.

That stuff takes so long to do
I wouldn't want to half ass it if I did a tutorial
thus i'd really have to plan it out

I do highly recommend a few fellow deviants, both cool chicks :iconbakanekonei: and :iconcharlie140588:
both do livestreams which they draw on the computer whilst people watch.. Both have very different painting styles but you can learn so much from them two gals it'll make your head hurt. I'd love to a livestream but I do not have my art computer hooked to the internet.

She is a great friend I had a lot of fun collabing with her
and she truly is amazing. I'm coloring an image now that I know she's going to be coloring as well.
I can't wait to see what she does. It'll out class mine for sure--and I'm cool with that :)
