Easter treat for everyone!
This is my latest cover with Jay Company Comics for Big Dog Ink’s Penny for your Soul—issue 6, I believe. The cover will be available this coming weekend at Wizard World Anaheim, CA.
And man I’ve got to be honest—this one took a lot out of me. At first this wasn’t the cover at all. In fact I had a really cool beach scene set in front of a Disney-esque theme park with roller coasters and water slides etc., all over the background. Sitting under an umbrella Maggie (the Angel) was cooling herself off with a fruity juice drink while Danica (the Demon) was sneaking up behind her to pull Maggie’s top off (because they always want a topless version I want to find creative ways for it to make sense).
After turning that in and putting over a week into it—they wanted something different.

It was really disappointing and very frustrating but I had to move on and start a new concept. They liked my idea of incorporating the ‘theme’ park aesthetic due to Anaheim being known for its parks and recreational fun centers. They also wanted to try and play off of Vegas’ Treasure Island and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

At first I struggled BAD to come up with a concept for this new cover, I wanted to portray some sort of explorer/adventurer Indiana Jones or Romancing the Stone/Jewel of the Nile vibe with the setting and with Maggie as I already knew I wanted to dress Danica like Capt. Jack mixed with Elizabeth Swan (Cuz Keira is hot). So after about 3-4 days I had this, but only in line art form. 1 week and 3 day later working on it for about 3-4 hours a day and going to my full time job where all I can do is think about these 3 covers I have to do making it a roughly 15 hour work day. I finally got it done and it absolutely burnt me out. However, I am completely happy with the results and although I can’t call it my best cover ever (my other concept would have been no doubt!) I can say it is certainly in my top 3.

Your coloring and attention to detail is awesome, as usual. Love the little skull and crossbones anklet that Danica is wearing. As well as her freckles. I know it's a little detail but they add so much!
